Easy-OnAir Ticker Documentation

A practical guide for configuring, operating and troubleshooting Easy-OnAir Ticker.

01

Getting Started

First launch

On the first launch of Easy-OnAir Ticker, make sure to load your font before configuring the ticker.

After using Save or Save As, the font configuration is saved with the project and you do not need to load the font again when reopening that saved project.

Important: Load the font during the initial setup before saving the project.

Quick workflow

Configure → Load Text → Preview → Start → ON AIR

02

LOOK

Text

Configure the font, text size, text color and vertical position of the ticker.

Direction

Direction — LTR / RTL

Easy-OnAir Ticker automatically handles the direction and BiDi (Bidirectional Text) rules according to the selected mode.

LTR — Left to Right: Use LTR for Latin text such as French or English. The text is read from the left side of the screen toward the right.

RTL — Right to Left: Use RTL for Arabic text. The text is read from the right side of the screen toward the left.

Important: Do not select RTL for French text, and do not select LTR for Arabic text. Do not manually reorder characters, words or numbers. Select the direction that matches the language of your text and Easy-OnAir handles the BiDi correction automatically.

Examples:

  • French / English: select LTR
  • Arabic: select RTL

Logo

Load or unload a logo and adjust the logo gap between the logo and rolling text.

Media

Images and videos can be loaded as background media or as graphic elements such as Breaking News or Weather animations.

  • An image remains displayed while active.
  • A video plays continuously in a loop.
  • For Fill / Key output, media requiring transparency must contain an alpha channel.

Vertical Offset

Vertical Offset adjusts the vertical alignment of the text relative to the logo between rolling lines.

Normally, you do not need to change this setting. Use it only when the text appears too high or too low relative to the logo, which can happen when the font creator has not placed the font anchor point correctly at the center.

Tip: If the text and logo are already correctly aligned, leave Vertical Offset at its default value.

03

ON AIR

Preview

Use the live preview to verify the ticker before taking it on air.

Load Text

Load your rolling text file and wait for the loading process to complete before starting the ticker.

Speed

Set the rolling speed. The value is displayed in pixels per second (px/sec).

Playback controls

START begins the ticker. PAUSE pauses it. RESUME continues playback. STOP stops the ticker.

FPS — Bottom Bar

The FPS displayed in the Bottom Bar represents the actual calculation rate of Easy-OnAir Ticker.

The application is configured to match the FPS selected in the interface. If 50 FPS is selected, Easy-OnAir targets 50 FPS; if 30 FPS is selected, it targets 30 FPS.

Important: If the displayed FPS drops below the selected FPS, this indicates a computer performance problem. Check the operating system, running processes and CPU/GPU usage, and close unnecessary applications or processes.

04

NDI IN

Enable or disable NDI input, select the NDI source and check its connection status. The ON/OFF control in ON AIR determines whether the NDI source is visible in the preview.

05

NDI OUT

Enable or disable NDI output and monitor the LIVE status.

The NDI output uses the resolution and FPS selected in Easy-OnAir. There is no separate NDI format to configure.

06

SDI OUTPUT

Standard configuration

Select the SDI device, signal format, bit depth and check the output status.

Advanced configuration

If you configure the SDI output using the Advanced settings, the resolution and frame rate must match the format used by your production system.

For example, if your production is running at 1080p50, configure the SDI output for 1080p50. If the production is running at 1080p25, use 1080p25.

It is possible to select a higher project FPS than the SDI signal FPS, for example:

  • SDI Advanced: 1080p25 → UX / project FPS: 25 or 50
  • SDI Advanced: 1080p30 → UX / project FPS: 30 or 60
Important: Always match the output format and frame rate to the final production format. If the application's actual calculation rate drops below the output FPS, moving elements can appear jerky or uneven.

Supported hardware

SDI workflows can use supported professional hardware including Blackmagic, Bluefish, AJA and Deltacast.

07

MASK

Mask Range

Use Mask Range to define the visible masked area of the ticker according to your production layout.

08

FILE

Save

Save the current project configuration.

Save As

Create a new saved project from the current configuration.

09

LICENSE

Activation

Activate your Easy-OnAir licence from the application's licence section.

Two machines

Each licence allows activation on up to 2 machines.

Offline verification

Easy-OnAir does not need a permanent Internet connection. Licence verification is performed periodically.

Subscription state

If a subscription is cancelled but has not expired, the application continues to work until the end of the current access period. When the subscription actually expires, protected features are disabled.

10

ABOUT

ABOUT groups useful installation and licence information, including customer information, subscription status, available features, activations and relevant dates.

ABOUT can also display a warning when a new licence verification is approaching or required.

11

TouchPlayer

TouchPlayer Non-Commercial

TouchPlayer Non-Commercial supports HD only for eligible non-commercial use. It does not preserve the Easy-OnAir project state between launches.

At each launch in this environment, enter the TouchPlayer licence key on the same machine and configure the TouchPlayer Non-Commercial environment again.

TouchPlayer Commercial

For commercial production, a TouchPlayer Commercial licence is sufficient. It is purchased separately from Derivative.

With the appropriate commercial TouchPlayer environment, Easy-OnAir project configurations can be saved and reused with Save / Save As.

12

Troubleshooting

Ticker does not start

Check the licence status, project configuration and whether the required text has been loaded.

FPS is below the selected value

Check the operating system, CPU/GPU usage and running processes. Close unnecessary applications and verify that the computer can maintain the selected calculation rate.

NDI source is unavailable

Check that NDI input is enabled, the source is available and the correct source is selected.

SDI output is not active

Check the selected device, signal format, bit depth and output status. If Advanced is used, verify that the output format exactly matches the production format.

Licence verification is required

Temporarily connect the computer to the Internet and allow Easy-OnAir to verify the licence.
